An open selection trial was conducted to select the district for the U14, U16 & U19 in all the districts.

Inter district tournament in three age categories i.e. U14, U16 & U19 were held at the six zonal head quarters namely Mysore, Mangalore, Belgaum, Gulbarga, Hubli, Shimoga and Tumkur during second and third week of April overseen by the Talent Resource Development Officers from KSCA to ensure impartiality and proper conduct of the matches.

The experience of the Talent Resource Development Officers who were mostly former Karnataka players helped the process of selection that made the filtering process more meaningful.

Sixty boys (twenty in each age group) were selected to attend summer camp.

The main objective of the KSCA Academy 2018 was to emphasize on the basics i.e. Ideal grip and stance for batters. Ideal grip, run up (proper running technique) and gather for bowlers, emphasizing on the importance of secondary skills like fielding, over arm throwing, running between the wickets and running technique. Detailed daily schedule for the four week summer camp was provided to the coaches from the Academy to ensure uniformity in coaching/training across the state.

Coaches visited many Moffusil centers to ensure the trainees were coached/ trained as per the plan provided by the academy.
